Adjusting your Internet Browser if you are visually impaired

Internet Explorer:

On the top Menu Bar select "Tools", click on "Internet Options", then select the "General" tab. Next click on "Accessibility..." to open the Font and Colour settings. Check the "Ignore font sizes specified on web pages" box if you wish to be able to change the font size. Check "Ignore Font colors specified on web pages" if you want to remove text colour formatting and use the default serttings (usually black text and blue links). Check "Ignore font styles specified on web pages" if you wish to use the system default font on the computer you are using. (This last setting usually invokes Times New Roman as the display font which is generally not a legible as the Arial font used throughout this Library site.)

You may now choose (On the top Menu Bar) "View" then "Text Size" and select a larger or smaller text size to suit you.

Please remember that these settings will remain for All Users of the computer, and must be reset (the boxes un-checked) to restore the computer to its original settings.

Firefox:

To disable style sheets for a specific page:

On the top menu bars select "View" then "Page Style", then click on "No Style." This will invoke the default browser settings for this page only.

To make a global change to the Type Size:

On the top Menu Bar select Tools, click on "Options", then the "Content" tab. Set the font and size you prefer then click on "Advanced" then de-select "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above." Click OK to exit.

Next select "Colors" and de-select "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above." Click "OK" to exit this dialogue, then "OK" on the "Options" tab to invoke these settings.

Please remember that these settings will remain for All Users of the computer, and must be reset (the boxes un-checked) to restore the computer to its original viewing configuration.
