Welcome to the Front of Yonge Library Virtual Tour.
Bring your selections here to the Circulation Desk to check them out, and, of course bring your borrowings back here to check them in. Librarians are research specialists — ask about anything and we will help you to find the information. Come here to arrange an Interlibrary Loan — if a book is in an Ontario library, we can usually get it.
Without the children there will be no future readers. This is our children's special place but adults should remember that the children are entitled to use the rest of the library too. If an adult wants to read Eric Carle's The Hungry Caterpillar, or another children's classic, that's fine with us.
Reading for the fun of it: novels, mysteries, romances, classic literature. The books are shelved in alphabetical order by the author's name.
History, biography, art, crafts, cooking, gardening, etc. The books are shelved by the subject, and by the Library of Congress / Dewey Decimal number.
Atlases, encyclopædias, Robert's Rules of Order, dictionaries, historical documents. These are materials you can refer to here, but are not available for loan.
Recordings, books on tape, DVD's, videos and so forth. Many tapes are especially suitable for children.
Drop off your borrowings here at any hour of the day or night, unless of course the Library is open. The box is located to the left of the front door to the building.
We have two workstations set up for word processing as well as internet browsing. A reservation is a good idea to be sure you can get access.
Faxes cost $1.25 per transmission (a really great deal), and photocopies are $0.25 per page.
The parking lot is large, ploughed in winter, free from pot-holes in summer, and is well lit.
